I met and fell in love with a man who I thought was destined to be my life partner. He had confessed to me that he also wanted to start a family young, and together we were on that path. Our plan was to attend college together, each working in our perspective career paths. We were very much in love and things were moving the way I thought both of us had envisioned and wanted.
Shortly after starting college, the cracks in our relationship started to show. For the next six to seven years, the cycle of separating and getting back together repeated. I felt I was still going on the dream with him and gave him the space to figure out what he wanted. I would convince myself that we were young and women mature faster than men, and to just give him time. I thought he would catch up, and we would again get married shortly after graduation and start our young family. Each time we would separate, the trust I had in him and us as a couple would diminish a little more…”
