“A few years ago, as I was persevering in my quest to break through as a professional artist, my life took an unpleasant turn. With the economy crashing, along with both a weak financial and faith backbone, I was drowning. Within the same time period, one of my best friends who was dying of cancer, would spend the last three months of her life in my home where she would dim her light peacefully. Shortly thereafter, a significant car accident would leave me without a car for two years, and eventually, I would also have to let go of my house. My life was in total disarray.
Then, one day, as I was desperately looking for a new place to live in and to pursue my art, a friend of mine mentioned the Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts in Fort Lauderdale. One evening, I attended an art exhibition opening and this was when I met Melisa Caprio. She was promoting her Postcards to the Universe project. I took three of her postcards and sent my wishes. The first one was to be able to move into a beautiful, creative space in the Sailboat Bend Community so that I could pursue my art again. About two years and some months later, after sleeping on a twin-size day bed in my friend’s home office, I was finally moving in and was able to go back to my passion and resume my quest of becoming an independent, professional artist.
My second wish was to reconnect with joy in my heart and soul so that I could flow freely and harmoniously with my life.
